Symptoms usually begin at the mid portion of radiation and may progress as treatment continues. A pharyngeal pouch, also known as Zenker’s diverticulum, is a sac or pocket which can develop between the lower part of the throat (pharynx) and the upper part of the gullet or food pipe (oesophagus). It is a rare condition. This condition is diagnosed on a barium swallow scan.
